Apple's smartphone sales fell 19.1 percent in the first quarter of 2024. Sales of Chinese rival Huawei grew 69 percent, suggesting a growing threat to the U.S. company's dominance of the smartphone sector around the world.

Apple's second-quarter results are due next week, and Bank of America is largely looking at the positive outlook, with "service revenue growth and profit margins remaining strong." However, the bank warned that "the demand environment is weak and that lower guidance for the fiscal quarter of the fiscal year may affect the decline in equities."
